If you're looking for a break from the city and plan a great beach day, Kleinmond is the perfect place for you. The Main Beach is an unspoilt Blue Flag beach situated at the mouth of the Kleinmond Lagoon. This beautiful and clean beach with its fine, white sand is perfect for swimmers, beach walkers, surfers and anybody who just wants to relax. Families feel at home at the lagoon with its shallow waters where you can find picnic spots, a children's playground and even a place where you can hire canoes and paddle boats.
The scenery with the Kogelberg mountains as a backdrop, the wide, sandy stretches, the rocky shores and the waves rolling in is breath taking and when you take a stroll along the dunes towards the wetland you may even spot the famous Kleinmond Wild Horses.
Locals and tourists meet at the popular Sandown Blues which offers the most beautiful sea views from its patio to enjoy a drink, hearty food or fresh sushi.
Even in summertime, the beach is never packed as it stretches almost as far as your eye can see. Lifeguards are on duty during the months of December to March and restrooms as well as showers are on-site. During the winter months the beach is a popular whale watching site. Lots of benches invite you to enjoy the view and to smell the fresh sea air.
A beautiful, pristine coastal path awaits you near the parking field at the Main Beach and leads along the shore right to the Harbour with its quaint shops and restaurants in the Waterfront. The easy walk is roughly 2km and a great experience for ocean lovers of all age.
