Most of South Africa is back at work today, 1 June - with the Covid-19 Command Council stressing the importance of workplace health and safety procedures. The new Level 3 regulations allow both commercial and residential property practitioners to get back to work; short term rentals for Leisure purposes remain restricted; evictions still on hold, unless ruled just by a competent court; and moving to new places of residence can continue.
Meridian Realty, as one of the most progressive real estate agencies in South Africa, is implementing thorough health and safety protocols to ensure the safety of its clients, estate agents and employees.
Antonie Goosen, the principal of Meridian Realty explains: "We have developed comprehensive COVID-19 Policies and Procedures that puts the protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of our clients, employees, estate agents and any third-party contractors in our real estate value chain. We have provided training on these policies and procedure to our entire staff complement and our estate agents.
We are excited to be able to operate in a somewhat more normal manner from today, but for us our clients health and safety is of utmost importance. We will continue to effectively utilise technology in our approach to business, and where practical virtual viewings and meetings will be conducted.
Only serious buyers will be allowed an opportunity to view properties, and only with the consent of the occupants. We will also pre-screen all parties involved in an appointment, and should the screening indicate a risk for COVID-19 exposure, the appointment will be postponed until it is deemed safe.
It goes without saying that all parties will be expected to wear masks, practice social distancing, not touch objects and surfaces in the property, etc. Our agents will also properly sterilise any area that was unavoidably or accidentally touched.
We will be limiting viewings to 2 clients and 1 estate agent at a time, and occupants of the property are encouraged to remain outside (if possible) for the duration of the viewing.
We continue to offer virtual property estimations as a first step for clients considering to sell their properties. We also offer professional photography and video walk throughs of properties as standard - ensuring that potential clients can see as much of a property virtually as is possible."
